Saphiro is a large platform that houses USSR's base of operation. It made its home in the eastern regions where magnetic fields are abundant. Sources indicate that the structure's construction started in the early parts of the 2nd millennium as a response to a violent solar flare and the dwindling supply of fossil fuels. It failed its purpose, but the government soon found a use for it by selling it to a powerful company. Not long after the USSR's rise (at around 2020), it became a full powered colony that houses the organization's personnel and equipments.

When the energy problem was solved, the USSR remained a giant mainly due to its influence and monopoly of its so called "Solar Energy". As they continue to produce influential technology, they established their presence, through their colony "Saphiro" and became an influential force in the political, military and scientific fields.

Saphiro's name of origin is still unknown, however. Nevertheless, USSR, its military and its personnel became so connected with the structure that people started referring to them as "Saphireans".

To date, only Saphiro, aside from the lesser known "Rio Shal'Darim" had its own independent supply of energy and private military.

The image above shows Saphiro under construction. Its early power sources, the three fuel stations surrounding it proved to be ineffective and was later replaced with solar cells. Early versions of its satellites were also employed to monitor its progress. (Clockwise from the bottom: Security, maintenance station and observatory).
